Monica Miller, CVT

I am a very lucky person for many reasons.  To start, I was born and raised in Arthur by my wonderful parents Elly and Gale Brooks.  At the age of four, my parents let me choose my very own puppy and in effect the rest of my life's career choices were made by that day, too.  "Mickey", a collie mix, was my best freind and the start of a lifetime of animal love and care.

My next phase in life was school.  I graduated from Arthur High School in 1987.  I graduated from Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois in 1992 with a degree in veterinary technology.  After passing my state boards, I received the title of Certified Veterinary Technician.  I then moved to Springfield, Illinois and worked at a small animal clinic for seven years.  It was in Springfield that more good luck was mine.  In 1994, I got married to my high school love, Tim Miller.

For the next several years, I lived, worked and played in Springfield.  A new hobby was also found there.  I got Tim a hot air balloon ride for a present not realizing the fate of this gift.  After one ride, Time decided that flying a balloon was something we needed to do.  So we now own our own hot air balloon named "Succotash" and have a wonderfull time sharing this hobby with family and friends.

In 1999, we moved back to Arthur and I had the good fortune of getting to work at the Arthur Veterinary Clinic.  This clinic is the greatest place to work for many reasons.  First is the staff.  Not only are these people my co-workers, they are also my friends.  They are compassionate, motivated, smart and continually striving to be the best they can.  What better work environment could there be?  The other main reason is the wonderful connection between people and their pets.  What a privileged job that I get to witness and be a part of that great bond daily.

So here we are now several years later 2008.  Many wonderful events have occurred.  The most blessed being the birth of our son, Cade, in 2002.  Our family is now made of of one child, Cade,  and one paranoid whippet, Josie.  Life is busy, full and blessed and I am one lucky person!
