Dr. Linda J. Harmon-Dodge

I was raised on a farm with my three brothers near Morrisonville, IL. We raised corn, beans, purebred hogs, and sheep. I talked my parents into my first horse when I was 10 years old. Animals have always played an important role in my life, I raised the orphan pigs and lambs as well as trying to save every sick animal I could drag home including a fawn deer and a lost cow.  I decided at the age of 4 to become a veterinarian and have never regretted that decision. My family was very involved in the local 4-H program which furthered my background in animal husbandry. My brothers helped pay for their college education through raising and selling purebred swine. My earnings from the hogs went towards my passion of horses. I started showing and training hunter jumping horses at an early age and continued until I started veterinary school.

I am a 1990 graduate of the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine. I began large animal practice in Newton, IA where I met my husband Jack Dodge. We returned to Illinois to a mixed animal practice and then in 1996, I joined Dr. Lisa Eller at the Arthur Veterinary Clinic. In 1998, I began training for animal chiropractic and veterinary acupuncture which is now my greatest passion in veterinary medicine. My interest in Complimentary medicine often has me traveling much of the state. This allows me to care for a large number of patients and improve their quality of life. Each day I wake up as a veterinarian is a good day; I can’t imagine any other profession for me. The staff and veterinarians at the Arthur Veterinary Clinic are not only my colleagues, they are also my friends and family, a greater group of people does not exist.

Jack and I are new grandparents of the world’s cutest grandson, Jared, who lives in Iowa with his parents. We along with my father have been raising, breeding, and showing Clydesdale horses for the last 11 years. Presently we share our farm with 13 horses, 5 or 6 cats, and my dogs, Tootsie and Jerry. My hobby is showing Clydesdales while my husband’s is pulling antique tractors. Our interests led to the formation of Iron Horse Farm which is becoming nationally known for quality horses.
